There is a lot going on at Mobius!

We must be honest and say that we do not post all of the news associated with our company, products and training courses.  Courses are being held somewhere in the world every week, and we do not announce all of the developments; there are too many!  But please enjoy a number of our more important announcements from the past three years.

"Introduction to Vibration Analysis" one-day workshop and technical paper at the SIRF RT National Forum  [October 2008]

In conjunction with the SIRF Round Table Condition Monitoring National Form, held in Melbourne Australia, Jason Tranter delivered a workshop that summarized maintenance practices, the benefits of reliability, condition monitoring techniques, and a more detailed view of vibration analysis.

Jason also delivered a technical paper "Diagnosing Rolling Element Bearing Faults" to an audience of over 100 people.

Technical paper delivered at the SMRP National Conference in Cleveland, OH [October 2008]

Jason Tranter and Tod Baer (Minnkota Power) co-presented a paper entitled "Running a Successful Condition Monitoring Program".  Jason reflected on 20 years of experience learning what makes some programs succeed and what makes so many programs fail.  Tod then delivered an excellent session describing the very successful program that he oversees at Minkota Power.

The Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals ran a successful conference.  Mobius also had a booth and met a number of our customers (and hopefully convinced a few people to become customers!).

Bearing Seminar conducted at Timken HQ [October 2008]

In conjunction with Timken and the Association of Maintenance Professionals, Jason Tranter delivered a presentation on "Diagnosing Rolling Element Bearing Faults".  Fifty people were in attendance at a very impressive venue (a Timken training facility in Akron, OH).  The presentation was also viewed by Timken staff in other locations (around the US and internationally) via a Webinar.

Vibration analysis seminar delivered to MIT (NZ) [October 2008]

Larry Weichern of Manakau Institute of Technology, located near Auckland NZ, organizes a series of seminars throughout the year that enable people from NZ industry to learn about ways to improve reliability and monitor the condition of machinery.  As he has now doe three years running, Jason Tranter donated his time to deliver this one-day workshop on vibration analysis to a capacity crowd.

These seminars provide a great service to NZ industry.  Substantial savings can be made by improved reliability and fewer catastrophic machine failures (and therefore less downtime).

Mobius awarded "Victorian Government Regional Exporter of the Year for 2008" for the second year in a row [October 2008]

It is a great honour to win this prestigious award - for the second year in a row!  The Governor of Victoria Exporter of Year award program recognizes the best businesses in the State of Victoria.  Export is very important to Victoria's and Australia's economy.  90% of our sales come from outside Australia and New Zealand.  We have training centers in 30 countries, and the courses and exams have been translated to seven languages.  We have sold iLearnVibration and our other products to thousands of customers in over 90 countries.

The awards are an opportunity to gain some recognition and receive a hard earned "pat on the back" for another year of very hard work.  We can be proud of everyone in Mobius, and we thank our customers, training partners and resellers.

Mobius is now a finalist in the Australian Exporter of the Year program.  The awards ceremony will be held in Melbourne in December.  Prime Minister Kevin Rudd will make the presentation.  Fingers crossed...

Bearing Analysis Web workshops [2008]

Jason Tranter is presenting a series of Web Workshops on bearing analysis - covering ultrasound, bearing vibration, bearing failure modes, enveloping, spectrum analysis and time waveform analysis.  These workshops are free to attend - you just need a good Internet connection, and you must dial-in in order to hear the narration.

Two of the workshops have already been conducted with a few hundred people in attendance for each workshop.

You can sign-up for the workshop here:

VANZ conference in Rotorua, NZ [May 2008]

The VANZ (Vibration Association of New Zealand) conference was held in Rotorua this year in a new 3-day format.  The Mobius founder, Jason Tranter, attended again and presented three papers:

1. The "Vibration fundamentals" presentation on the industry Awareness Day (130 people from NZ industry).

2. "Machine Dynamics" - describing mass, stiffness, damping and how to understand and control resonances.  Using the Mobius simulators made this topic MUCH easier to understand.

3. "Setting Alarm Statistically - Let your machines set their own alarms".  Given that only 5-10% of people set their alarms statistically, this paper provided an explanation of statistics, standard deviation (sigma) and the methods used to apply these techniques to vibration alarm limits.  As always, simulators were used to explain statistics and alarm limits.

Mobius Institute is formed: Distance Learning and Internationally recognized Certification is offered [July, 2004]

We are very pleased to announce the formation of Mobius Institute, and the availability of distance learning courses with certification.  The courses and certification are based on the ISO 18436.2 and ASNT standards.

While we have successfully trained thousands of people over the past four years, our customers have also asked for recognition of their hard work and newly attained skills - and certification provides that recognition.  So we have structured three courses to meet the ISO 18436.2 Category I and II standard and the ASNT Level I and II standard.

To assist the "student" through the learning process, we have partnered with Internationally recognized and very experienced vibration analysts/instructors, who will answer student's questions and generally help them get through the learning process.

iLearnVibration Version 3.0 is released [February, 2003]

They said it could not possibly get better - but it has!  The new Version 3.0 of the iLearnVibration [Standard], [Professional] and [Instructor] packages has just been released, and it is better than ever.  The main difference is that the six original products (iLearnVibration, iLearnCaseHistories, iLearnHandsOn, iLearnMachineFaults, iLearnSignals, and iLearnInstructor) have now been integrated into a single application.  That application has different tabs which provide access to the different parts of the system.

If you own/purchase iLearnVibration [Standard], you have a single tab: 'Training'.  If you own iLearnVibration [Professional] you get four additional tabs: 'Case histories', 'Test rig', 'Signals', and 'Machine faults and alarms'.  And iLearnVibration [Instructor] is the same application with an additional Instructor tab.

There are a great many new features in the system.  You can read about it here.
